Justin Sullivan
President and CEO
Justin Sullivan is president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Sullivan Management & Consulting Group (SMCG), a national healthcare management and professional services company serving physician practices, medical groups, hospitals, management services organizations (MSOs), and healthcare organizations across the United States.
Justin has worked in healthcare for nearly 30 years, in ophthalmology since 2004, and has spent 20 years leading healthcare organizations through expansion, operating change, financial turnaround, restructuring, and leadership transitions. That work spans independent physician practices, multi-location medical groups, hospitals, MSOs, and national healthcare organizations, including organizations with more than $100 million in annual gross revenue.
In one executive leadership engagement he helped take a 17-provider, nine-location medical group from roughly $29 million to $55 million in annual gross revenue over two years. In another CEO role he took a 12-provider, seven-location organization from roughly $12 million to $19 million in 18 months. Over the past eight years he has also taken part in more than 40 healthcare transactions, including practice sales, partnership buy-ins, ownership transitions, and succession planning.
His work covers revenue cycle management, operations, financial performance, restructuring, practice integration, service-line development, credentialing, payer strategy, recruiting, and executive leadership. At SMCG he leads a multidisciplinary team that turns strategy into execution and measurable results, and his years on both sides of the table mean he understands the independent physician owner and the larger healthcare enterprise from the inside. Justin presents on practice management at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) annual meetings, including the AAO Conversations With the Experts program.
