Practice Manager – Refractive Surgery, Dry Eye & Elective Ophthalmology
A state-of-the-art ophthalmology practice in Manhattan is seeking an experienced and dynamic Practice Manager to lead the full spectrum of business operations for a high-end, insurance and cash-pay surgical practice. Specializing in refractive surgery (LASIK, ICL), advanced cataract procedures, and a comprehensive dry eye treatment program, the practice offers concierge-level care using the latest clinical technology.
The Practice Manager is the senior operational leader of the practice and will oversee all non-clinical functions, including HR, marketing, revenue cycle management, finance, and administrative oversight. While the day-to-day clinical and surgical flow is supported by a Clinic Manager, this role reports to the Practice Manager, ensuring unified leadership across the business and patient care domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all non-clinical operations of the practice, including:
- Human Resources: hiring, onboarding, performance management, compliance, and employee relations
- Marketing: develop and oversee strategies for digital outreach, patient acquisition, brand growth, and vendor coordination
- Revenue Cycle Management: supervise billing, coding, collections, and reporting for both surgical and dry eye services
- Finance & Administration: manage budgets, coordinate with bookkeeping/accounting, and ensure reporting accuracy
- Supervise and support the Clinic Manager and all administrative personnel; ensure clear expectations, accountability, and team alignment
- Analyze and optimize KPIs related to growth, conversion, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (HIPAA, OSHA) and internal protocols
- Partner with physician leadership on strategy, service expansion, and long-term business planning
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in a Practice Manager or senior healthcare operations role
- Required: experience in refractive surgery, dry eye, or elective ophthalmology environments
- Proven leadership in HR, RCM, marketing, and business operations within a high-volume, cash-pay model
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Proficiency with EMR and practice management systems
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and act as a strategic partner to physician-owners
